THE FIRST PUBLICATION CELEBRATING TRANS PEOPLE OVER 30 WHO SURVIVED TRANSPHOBIA.

For the 14th consecutive year, Brazil was named the nation with the highest number of transgender people killed. Most of these victims were between 18 and 29 years old, and never had the opportunity to graduate from college, build professional careers, and feature on lists like Forbes Under 30.

Billboard launched the first publication featuring a list of trans people over 30 who survived transphobia and became references in their fields, respected in their communities and leaders inthe battle against violence in Brazil.

Despite the festive image conveyed by Carnival, samba, and soccer, Brazil is a predominantly conservative nation, where prejudice is commonplace and widely accepted in its culture.

Breaking away from this dynamic, celebrating life, and giving due prominence to trans people required courage and an unwavering stance from a heavyweight publication – like Billboard

Expanding this project, the Over 30 Section is now a fixture on the Billboard website, clearly showing that it’s an ongoing initiative that will be published every year.
